Forgiveness revisited

Defenders, as we move forward into the holiday season, its more important than ever as we celebrate Thanksgiving and the birth of our Lord and Savior we understand, practice and embrace….Forgiveness. 1st let me start by saying…please forgive me…if I have done anything to offend any of you, at any time, I am sorry. I am not a perfect person, but I try as hard as I can to strive for perfection and walk with the Father through this veil of tears, with vigor in His name for you, my family and my community, again, please forgive me…I am sorry. May the Lord continue to strengthen you, your family and your spirit in health, happiness and prosperity.

Rev. Poe

Ok, Let’s Roll!

Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. (Colossians 3:13 NIV)

Let us open in prayer: Heavenly Father, O God, We need to feel that We have forgiveness from You. So often our good intentions do not become what We want them to be, and so often the good We want to do, We don’t do. It is hard to face up to the wrongs which pass through our lives. When We feel Your forgiveness, We feel clean and good inside and so free to be what You want us to be. Help us feel this goodness, and strengthen us all and allow us to forgive those who have wronged us, and be forgiven by those we have wronged. Powerful we are with your presence in our lives, we thank you Sir! We pray in the name of Christ who shows us the way to Your forgiving presence. Amen.

Ok, here we go….let’s get into it!

If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

I John 1:9

How to let go of grudges and bitterness! I know, I know, this is tough, but let’s get into it…
When someone you care about hurts you, you can hold on to anger, resentment and thoughts of revenge, or embrace forgiveness and move forward. Brothers/Sisters I know this is hard! BUT! We have to. I had to and so do you if you truly want to be FREE, can someone help me a little here…. I hope this truly helps someone else; if it does, please, pass it on. Rev. Poe

“Therefore, my friends, I want you to know that through Jesus the forgiveness of sins is proclaimed to you. (Acts 13:38 NIV)

Friends, nearly everyone has been affected or hurt by the actions, bad situations or words of another. Your partner misused or betrayed your trust, your mom criticized your parenting skills. Your friend, girl friends or boys gossiped about you. Your partner had an affair, etc. etc. These wounds can leave you with lasting feelings of anger, bitterness, vengeance or just always being PISSED OFF!!. Trust me I’ve been on both sides as most of us have, But I’m here to say that we all have choices in life and (Glory be to GOD!) once you grow spiritually, mentally and understand that the seeds you plant in Heaven will bear you fruits in abundance with unparalleled feelings of love, truth, respect and Power; Plant the seed of forgiveness and Forgive!

BUT! when you don’t practice forgiveness, you may be the one who continues to be hurt most dearly. By embracing forgiveness, you embrace peace, hope, gratitude, joy and blessings.

What is forgiveness?
There’s no one definition of forgiveness. But in general, forgiveness is a decision to let go of resentments and thoughts of revenge. Forgiveness is the act of untying yourself from thoughts and feelings that bind you to the offense committed against you. This can reduce the power these feelings otherwise have over you, so that you can a live freer and happier life in the present free to move forward inspired, enthusiastically motivated to recapture/capture the most delightful moments in your life.. LET IT GO!!!!!

“open their eyes and turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan to God, so that they may receive forgiveness of sins and a place among those who are sanctified by faith in me.’ (Acts 26:18 NIV)

Doesn’t forgiving someone mean you’re forgetting or condoning what happened? NOOO!
Absolutely not! Forgiving isn’t the same as forgetting what happened to you. The act that hurt or offended you may always remain a part of your life. But forgiveness can lessen its grip on you and help you focus on other, positive parts of your life. Forgiveness also doesn’t mean that you deny the other person’s responsibility for hurting you, and it doesn’t minimize or justify the wrong. You can forgive the person without excusing the act.

What are the benefits of just letting it GO!?
Evidence is mounting that holding on to grudges and bitterness results in long-term health problems, Mental and physical and Jail Time ;-). Forgiveness, on the other hand, offers numerous benefits, including:

No Jail Time – For Killing a fool! (Don’t catch a case)! Hear me…DO NOT CATCH A CASE OVER A FOOL…FOOL = Tool of the devil!
Lower blood pressure
Stress reduction
Less hostility
Better anger management skills
Lower heart rate
Lower risk of alcohol or substance abuse
Fewer depression symptoms
Fewer anxiety symptoms
Reduction in chronic pain
More friendships
Healthier relationships
Greater religious or spiritual well-being
Improved psychological well-being
and again No Jail Time – For Killing a fool! 😉 I’m no longer in prison ministry;)

Simply accept the fact that you — like everyone else — aren’t perfect. PERFECTION IS NOT OF THIS WORLD!! Accept yourself despite your faults. Admit your mistakes. Commit to treating others with compassion, empathy and respect. And again, talking with a spiritual leader, mental health provider or trusted friend or relative may be helpful.

Forgiveness of yourself or someone else, though not easy, I truly know this!!, can transform your life. Instead of dwelling on the hurt, injustice and revenge, instead of being angry and bitter, you can move toward a life of peace, harmony, Love, compassion, mercy, joy, kindness and prosperity. Allow God to work through you for you! It works, Take it from the Ol’ Boy GP, I’ve been around the world a few times now and have served this country, communities all over and am deeply involved in Masonry and The Ministry. We all make mistakes, How we move past them determines our peace of mind and future rewards.

When you hold resentment toward another, you are bound to that person or condition for LIFE by an emotional link that is stronger than steel. Forgiveness is the only way to dissolve that link and get free. BE FREE, GET FREE and/or Continue to practice freedom;-)! 😉 I Hope this helps someone. Take care! GP2

Lord, Please forgive me of my sins known and unknown and grant that by the power of your word I am better positioned to be a true and faithful friend to those whom trust, respect and encourage me. And that those whom I may have hurt, be lifted, held and embraced closely to your breast, forever blessed with your love, strength and kindness. I Understand Lord that you are Love and without Love I can NOT be next to YOU! Keep my friends new and old powerful, healthy, Blessed, Highly favored and comforted with minds calm as the sea and allow them to forgive and be set forever free. Amen.
